Property Description

Located in Yangana, a quaint Andean town in the south of Ecuador sits 103 pristine hectares with an immaculately restored main house, 8 guest cabanas (housed in four structures), a restaurant rehabbed from an old sugar cane mill with multiple kitchens, fully equipped spa, organic orchards, ponds, waterfalls, streams, forests, hiking trails and so much more.

This property is ideal for a boutique hotel, retreat center, healing center, multi family compound or just a beautiful homestead.

Entering through a beautiful, rustic wooden gate, there is a small caretakers cottage immediately to the left – after a slight curve you arrive at the main house and surrounding grounds.

Upon your arrival it is impossible not to be struck by the natural beauty and immense serenity the well thought through and largely natural surroundings emit.

The 70-year-old 2br/3ba (could easily convert bottom level to at least two more bedrooms) home was gut renovated in 2014 maintaining as much original detail as possible.

A large, hardwood, wrap around second floor balcony takes full advantage of the lush surroundings – highlighted by the meticulously manicured lawn, goose pond and the green mountains of the Ecuadorian Andes.

The house features two hotel style en suite bedrooms, a large sitting room, formal dining room, kitchen and large living room with fireplace and lots of light.

The house, restaurant, en suite cabanas, spa, orchards, sitting areas, ponds and water features are all connected by beautifully landscaped paths tastefully utilizing the already existing nature and accenting it with orchids, flowers, natural fountains and soul soothing greenery of all kinds.

It is extremely rare to find a property that takes the rich history of rural Ecuador and combines it with modern amenities in such a spectacular way.

Ascending up behind the house you reach the first two en suite cabanas with a lovely shared balcony with hammocks looking out over flowering plants and mountains beyond.

Leaving the main house to the left, on a charming stone path, passing natural water features and orchids tucked into the native trees and shrubs you reach the restaurant.

The restaurant is housed in a uniquely rehabbed sugar cane mill.

The original walls, celling, wood fired oven/stove as well as open air feel give the restaurant a feel of going back in time while also being comfortable, inviting, even gently luxurious.

The small wooden bar, modern kitchen, indoor/outdoor seating, hidden speakers, water features and lighting give the space the additional touch needed.

Below the restaurant accessed from a stone pathway surrounded by vegetation you arrive at the spa, accented by a large outdoor seating area and small pond.

The modern spa is equipped with reception area, bathrooms/shower/changing rooms, message room, steam room, sauna and more.

On the other side of the spa reached from another enchanting footpath are additional guest cabanas and continuing beyond you are eventually greeted by the 4-hectare organic fruit and coffee orchard.

This area is just teaming with life.  The mature fruit trees are producing every variety of delicious fruit including; several varieties of banana and plantain, lemon, lime guayaba, orange, poma rosa, grapefruit, cherimoya, avocado, mango, peach enough and more.

Beyond the orchards the nature trails begin in earnest.  Streams, small waterfalls, ponds, seating areas, spectacular panoramic views, and 60 hectares of eucalyptus as well as old growth forest highlight the footpaths.

Other features include; alarm with cameras, in-room telephones, tons of wood for sale or additional construction, bamboo, irrigation system, an abundance of water originating on the property, a plethora of orchids and other rare and native plants, many hummingbirds, ancient indigenous (Palta) walking trails and cemetery and so much more.

This is truly a rare find.
